These pictures were all created during the same session with the same  prompt: Birds & Wishes. I love these 3 samples from the group because they show just a few ways one prompt was interpreted! Everyone is always welcome to use whatever medium they like!

"Roya gets it. She knows how parents relate to their child as well as knows what a teen is experiencing. She's fun, articulate, expressive and I've learned so much from her guidance and care." Mary Ann

A few samples of the types of process art I love to do with the group! YOURS DOES NOT NEED TO LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THIS!!! Some teens write, many do digital art, some create figurines, and others make music! It's an amazing assortment.

FAQs

  • When does the group meet?

Every week we meet twice - on Monday from 6:30-8pm pacific time AND Tuesday from 3-4:30 pm PACIFIC time.

You can come to one session, or both! The prompts will be the same both days of the same week, but many people like to come to both as a sort of open-studio time.

There will be occasional rescheduling/cancellations due to holidays.

  • What if I can't make it to all of the calls?

We'll miss you, but don't worry! You can always ask me for the prompt to do on your own, or remember it's okay - you don't need to make it 100% of the time.

You can also come to Monday's session even if you normally attend Tuesday, and vice versa.

  • What is your refund policy?

No refunds, but no cancellation fees either. If you need to pause your membership, just let Roya know.

  • Can I join this group and be a client?

Absolutely! Please feel free to join this group, even if we have individual therapy. Confidentiality will still be maintained to the same ethical and legal standard (aka I will not out you in the group).

  • Is this group LGBTQIA+ friendly?

    YES YES YES.

We have a wonderfully diverse group of teens participating in this group! Themes around gender and sexuality have come up through the artwork, so I am confident in telling you that we have a variety of genders/sexual orientations represented in our group!

As a therapist and leader of this space for teens - there is very little I take more seriously than keeping this group a place where the teens feel comfortable to express themselves.

  • Can I join if I'm not exactly a teen?

YES! You don't need to be exactly 13-19. We have a few folks who are a bit younger, and a few who are a bit older. Teen-ISH. It's a guideline, not a rule.

  • How do I sign up?

Click the sign up button below, and it will take you to my online shop. Simply purchase the teen art group membership and it will automatically renew once a month.

After you pay, you'll receive an email with all the details about how to join the call.

  • Do I need to talk or be on camera?

No! That's the beauty of the online group. You can show up however you feel comfortable. Some folks like to be on video, some only want to talk, some want all of that off and communicate via the text chat. You get to show up where and how you want, and that can always change too! You will never be forced to share, be on video, or anything of that nature.

  • Can I do digital art?

Sure! Each week I'll show up with a theme, a prompt, and an idea. You can decide how you want to run with it. Some folks prefer digital art, and some want it to be more tactile. We even have folks who choose to spend their time writing using the prompts. It really is up to you.

  • What supplies do I need?

I'm pretty good at adapting the prompt to whatever you have - but if you want to do the activities the way I've designed them, it would be great to start acquiring...

basic art supplies like: paper, scissors, markers, colored pencils...

collage supplies: magazines, glue/mod podge/rubber cement

    painting stuff: watercolors, acrylics...

If there's ever a point where we are going to do something more speciality that requires a specific material, I'll give you lots of notice.

  • What kinds of topics will be covered?

That's a big question. My goal is to give pretty open-ended prompts and see where they lead us.

Here are a few examples of things I've done in the past.

Inside/Outside collage - where we fold a paper in half and collage the things we show others versus what we keep inside.

Mood Music -- where we draw/paint/whatever to very different clips of music and then explore what patterns we find afterwards.

Hidden Rooms -- where we do some paper cutting and painting to visualize things we feel are hidden or hard to express.

Movement meditation -- where we do some guided mindless/mindful doodling to help with anxiety and grounding.

Lots of self-exploration, lots of emotional intelligence building, decreasing anxiety, processing relationships, all that kind of stuff!

Any other questions?
